The IAF International Designer Award catwalk show in Hong Kong was won by Pankaj & Nidhi from India. Other than previous editions the work of the most promising designers from all over the world were presented during the Interstoff Asia Essential - Autum fair on October 6th 2010. The collections submitted by nominees this year focused on ladies wear for summer 2011. The IAF Designer Award 2010 winners are: Pankaj & Nidhi (India) for the most creative design, Daphne iliaki (Greece) for the most commercial design and Chai-Wei Kang (Taiwan) for the best way of working with fabrics. All these winners will be invited to present their work at the 27th IAF World Apparel Convention and receive their Awards. The following counties have nominated a designer to take part in the IAF Designer Award 2010: India, Spain, Mexico, Greece, Macau, Taiwan and Hong Kong. The show opened with the designer collections of the 2009 competition winners: Didier Van der Vorst (Belgium), Anne Schulze (Germany) and Jasper Huang (Taiwan). After this part of the show the jury, consisting of Nannet van der Klein (Deputy Director, Amsterdam Fashion Institute), Leonie Barrie (Managing Editor, Just Style), Zhang Nia Jun (Associate Editor, Harper’s Bazar) and Angelia Teo (Head of Trend Content, WGSN), decided who the 2010 winners are. The objective of the IAF International Designer Award is to invite and encourage prominent young designers to participate in this prestigious contest. By strengthening the exchange among IAF member associations, international fashion design is promoted among the most influential decision-makers in the apparel industry. All IAF member associations were invited to participate in this event, by nominating one designer from their country. The international panel of judged judge the designs on basis of creativity (40%) and marketability (60%). | ||
