ABDUL HALDAR AND PALLAVI MOHAN PRESENTED AMAZING FEMININE COLLECTIONS AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK FOR SUMMER/RESORT 2011

ABDUL HALDAR’S COLLECTION WAS A GREAT HOLIDAY OFFERING FOR SUMMER/RESORT 2011

March 15, 2011, Mumbai: Keeping his Summer/Resort 2011 collection very fresh with the holiday season in mind, Abdul Haldar worked around western wear which was chic and appeared to fit easily into the leisure and comfort clothing genre.

Calling it “Ode to Leisure” the fabrics chosen by Abdul have always been an important factor, so the designer made his selection from Lycra, viscose satin, stretch net and metallic embellishments which fitted perfectly into his collection theme.

His colour palette was rich with strong jewel tones like mustard, orange, burnt red, fuchsia, hot pink and yellow that lit up the ramp.

The look revolved around slinky dresses, trousers, jumpsuits, blouses all aimed at the well travelled woman; while men’s wear was kept simple and cool to counter the heat of the summer months.

A long sleeved white pencil dress opened the show to give an indication of the very figure hugging ensembles to follow. Shorts were teamed with Tees and peach jacket, jumpsuits had sexy low backs, halters were form fitting and an orange one shoulder sheath had a hint of embellishments. Shrugs were given the crochet effect and the final red section had resort wear comprising gold edged bolero teamed with hipster pants, a gold yoke dress and an embroidered shrug with a jersey mini.

For men, Abdul also added style with a sun yellow four buttoned pockets shirt, a sleek buttonless silk jacket, white cross pocket trousers with a waistcoat and a one button narrow lapel jacket.

Abdul Haldar’s “Ode to Leisure” had all the right fashion directions for a practical resort wear wardrobe for both sexes around the globe.

PALLAVI MOHAN CREATED ROMANCE ON THE RAMP WITH HER BOUQUET OF FASHION ENSEMBLES FOR SUMMER/RESORT 2011 AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK

Pallavi Mohan’s label “Not So Serious” presented a vibrant youthful collection in summer shades of ecru, moody blue, gorgeous yellow and smart khaki sprinkled with sumptuous peach, pink and rose.

Called “A Pocketful of Posies”, the look was inspired by the very stylish feminine late Victorian era which directed Pallavi to create some glamorous outfits. Swirling maxis, cascades of ruffled lace sleeves, peasant tops, tantalizing tiered dresses and sexy baby doll tops were part of a line that included soft sheer sensuous dresses all ideal for the sweltering summer heat.

For more relaxed wear there were denim dresses and comfortable hot pants. Embellishments were delicate with a profusion of lace, 3D floral motifs with a touch of delicate metal chains.

Pallavi recreated the look of the gentle past with her opening outfit – white ruffled blouse and lace tiered frilled mini skirt. The white collection included self designed minis with embroidery on yoke, hem, and sleeve edges, pale blue georgette dresses were splashed with white embellishments. The pretty peasant look came in green printed embroidered bands for various dresses, the flamboyant chiffon smock with lace edging and the lineup of gowns in orange, yellow chiffon - some with godets on the swirling skirts and others delicate shaded - were a dream to behold.

The very interesting ladybug handbags developed in conjunctions with Rocio UK were the ideal accessory.

The showstopper was the perky Zoa Morani, debutant star of Red Chillies and Karan Johar’s film “Always Kabhi Kabhi”, who took the ramp in black shorts and a flirty orange poncho with bands of white lace.

For the romance of the Victorian era coupled with cool summer wear, the bouquet of fashion from Pallavi Mohan will be the right hot weather choice.
