MAD ABOUT MARCHESA

Established in 2004, Marchesa is a fairly new, upscale womens wear brand. Designed for socialites by socialites Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Marchesa is actually named after one of the first socialites, Marchesa Luisa Casati. Casati was a 20th century italian heiress who had said, "I want to be a living work of art".
And that she was. Casati was known for her late night strolls in the nude under her fur and to drape snakes around her neck as jewels.

This idea of walking art is exactly what Marchesa has brought to its' wearers. When Sandra Bullock won the Oscar last year, she was also crowned best dressed ... in Marchesa, of course.

Marchesa is especially known for its evening wear, almost always paired with verbose 40's taste such as ruffles and shimmer. In every Marchesa piece, there are always three elements: glamour, girlyness, and elegance.
Now, lust all you want. But don't expect daddy to get you a dress for your next birthday. Even Marchesa's less luxurious line, Notte by Marchesa, doesn't go below the $500 mark for a piece. Oh, but a girl can dream ....
