A Little Bit Dramatic: Your Alter Ego

The stage is all about being bold. Bold makeup, bold costumes, and boldness when it comes to actually getting up on it and performing. It's about putting on a show, and bringing out an altogether more dramatic version of yourself. That's why, when it comes to stage outfits, we've come to expect something extravagantly decorated, sparkly and eye-catching, or just plain...out there from stars. And we haven't been let down thus far in 2011. Just look at what some performers recently donned at the Grammy's....

Rihanna looks fierce and
 beautiful in Christian Dior

Katy Perry sparkles sweetly

Usher becomes robotic in his blue uniform

Lady Gaga constantly takes a
fashion risk, which we look forward to seeing

Cee Lo Green certainly captured our attention and
Gwenyth Paltrow rocked feathery hot pink earrings
And you know what? As crazy as some of these fashions might be, we can all learn how to add a little stage make-up and costume to our everyday wardrobe. Think about it: dramatic, sparkling eyes for a night out. Costume earrings. Old-Hollywood bright red lipstick.

Every once in a while it's great to step out of your traditional way of dressing and become a more dramatic version of yourself. My challenge to you is to rock something you normally wouldn't wear--maybe it's a color combo you've been dying to try, or two patterns you've been wanting to mix together but that you still haven't had the guts to wear out in public. Sometimes it's fun to dress up like somebody else, (kind of like you have this fashionista alter-ego that goes against everything you normally believe in). That's what the stage is all about-being a little bit more dramatic than you usually are. (For instance, if Lady Gaga let her alter ego take over, she'd probably be caught wearing jeans and a cardigan!)

Remember, do it your way, always. (But in this case, just let that alter ego take over) ;)
