AIRCEL PRESENTED BOLLYWOOD BADSHAH MANISH MALHOTRA’S GLITTERING WINTER/FESTIVE 2010 COLLECTION ON THE FOURTH DAY AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK

Bollywood’s Badshah of glitz and glamour, Manish Malhotra revealed his creative talents in abundance at the last show on the fourth day sponsored by Aircel to promote “Save The Tiger Initiative” at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2010.

Using red and blue, the colours of Aircel, the look was luxurious all the way with contemporary evening wear being the centre of attention as the gorgeous creations floated down the catwalk. Shades of blue, red and black were dabbled with heavy embroidery, zari, crystals, sequins and brocade to highlight the delicate shimmering eye-catching motifs.

Silhouettes were comfortable and easy as harem pants, relaxed salwars and regal raw silk sherwanis indicated the trend for the coming season.

Opening the show with a full circle blue tiered lehenga with a striking red velvet border and choli, the show moved onto gorgeous Indian festive wear. Multi coloured long sheer kalidar kurtas swirled on to the ramp in quick succession in variations of cuts and embellishments. Broad velvet borders in velvet, satin or gold edged the hemlines. The saris were as magnificent in net, sheer chiffon and silk and long lean kurtas with high slits were teamed with brocade pyjamas and slashed panels for flowing kurtas with lehengas.

The red and blue colours were reversed from lining to garment occasionally to give a new version. While the cholis were tiny and sexy, corsets appeared at times to give a new image to the lehenga.

For variety there were silky glittering harem pants with printed shirts or swirling halter kurtas over flowing skirts. Keeping the silhouettes very wide, full circle and long for the lehengas and kurtas, Manish added on a few shorter looks for the baby doll kurtis.

Men’s wear ranged from kurtas with velvet borders to ornate sherwanis, some impressive Jodhpur jackets with brocade and velvet combinations. Flowing salwars, Turkish pants, Jodhpur trousers and churi pants were a perfect complement for the men’s garments.

For men and woman who want to dress in the glamorous creations that have made Bollywood stars the best dressed in the country; then Manish Malhotra’s contemporary Indian evening collection presented by Aircel has to be the one to choose from.
