Back to School Fashion

I hope everyone enjoyed their frigid (kidding) Valley winter and opportunity to wear fabulous coats, but the sun is definitely shining back into Tempe and it’s time to let it into our wardrobe! This spring seems to be screaming simplicity. We should take fashion inspiration from the Golden Globes this year, and try to channel the successful dresses into our casual wardrobe. Best dressed in my opinion? Our very own AZ-native, Emma Stone She radiates in an off-peach Calvin Klein gown with a perfect plummeting back. The slight but tasteful train gives a sense of charm and grace without looking forceful. It’s simple, it’s soft, it’s light and it’s elegant-yet-carefree image is perfect for this Spring. But how do we channel this casually, and on college-student budget?

First of all, it doesn’t have to be off-peach. Most near-nude or nude-esque colors are making a big appearance this spring, as are natural colors. American Apparel’s Cotton Spandex Jersey Double U-Neck long-sleeved mini dress is form-fitting like Stone’s, and is sophisticated yet maintains edgy with it’s low-cut back.  This dress  comes in many colors! Wear this dress with leggings, or even layer it over pants until it gets warmer - but keep it simple! This is a great investment for spring because you can wear it so many different ways, all depending on the amount of sunshine out. For a bag I suggest medium-sized off-white, or beige - with gold detail.  Look to this Marc Jacob bag for inspiration.  For the shoes stick to natural/ sandy looking colors, especially with this ocean-inspired color!

Happy spring shopping!
