A day at the races has always been an exciting event and the chance to get dressed up for a great day out. Race days are traditionally a day when ladies step out in style in their finest clothes and hats. One of the most recognized and well known of all race meets is the Royal Meeting at Ascot which was founded by Queen Anne in 1711. Members of the Royal Family still lead the way from Windsor castle to Ascot each day and on ladies day the focus changes from racing to ladies fashion with extra attention being paid to the ladies clothes especially their hats.
Ladies clothing etiquette or dress codes at a race meets can be fairly formal and it is always best to check with the race course that you are attending what would be appropriate dress for your ticket type and event. Generally speaking, ladies days are the most formal and the more expensive the ticket, the more formal the dress code. Most ladies will wear a formal dress and hat or fascinator to ladies days but also many other racing days and events. Here are some tips on ladies clothes for race days.
